Marking Scheme : 1 marks on every correct answers and 0.33 deductions on every wrong answers

1. There are two water tanks A and B, A is much smaller than B. While water fills at the rate of one liter every hour in A, it gets filled up like 10, 20, 40, 80, 160… in tank B.( At the end of first hour, B has 10 liters , second hour it has 20, and so on). If tank B is 1/32 filled after 21 hours, what is the total duration required to fill it completely?
a)26 hrs

Answer:  Tank B gets filled up like 10 in 1 hr,in next 1 hr its 20,again in next hr its 40 and so on.... that means in every next hr water gets filled double...
1/32 gets filled in 21 hr
1/16 gets filled in 22 hr
1/8 gets filled in 23 hr
1/4 gets filled in 24 hr
1/2 gets filled in 25 hr
1 gets filled in 26 hr

2. There are two boxes, one containing 10 red balls and the other containing 10 green balls. You are allowed to move the balls between the boxes so that when you choose a box at random and a ball at random from the chosen box, the probability of getting a red ball is maximized. This maximum probability is

Answer: Take one red ball in 1st bag.
put the remaining nine red ball with 10 green ball in other bag

prob of red in other bag=(1/2)*(9/19)

3. 4 years ago Adithya’s age was twice Ganesh age. 4 yrs hence Adithya’s age will be 4/3 times the age of Ganesh. Find Adithya’s present age.
4. What is the smallest number by which 2880must be divided to make it into a perfect square.

5. A racehorse starts chasing a wild pony 3 hours after the pony bolts the stable. The pony runs through the entire country of Alb.Texas jumping 3 streams and crossing four 10 meter roads. The racehorse finally catches up with the pony after four hours by the time the sun had set and the moon was up in the sky for 4 hours. If the average speed of the racehorse is 73kmph then average speed of the wild pony is ____ kmph.
