R Chandrashekhar, the president of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) said that the fresh hiring activity will be lower in Financial Year 2017 (2016-17) compared to last two FYs. Last year it was 4.2 Lakhs whereas it was 2.2 L before that.

  • - focus on automation jobs

"The IT companies are adopting higher productivity by reducing the strength and focusing on automation. For a country like India, automation works differently as cost effectiveness on automation is different because our economic levels are different," he said.
