TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam 2014

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) issued direct recruitment notification for filling up post of Assistant Engineer and Assistant Director in various TN State services. The selection process based on the Combined Engineering Services Examination (CESE). Eligible Engineering Graduates are required to Register Online Application form on or before 23rd April 2014.

Scale of Pay: Rs. 9300 - 34800 + Grade pay Rs.5100/- p.m.

 Age Limit: Minimum - 18 Years; No Age limit for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all Castes. 30 Years for Others [i.e. candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs].

Educational Qualifications:

Assistant Engineer (Civil) –  B.E degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering (OR) A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering branch, subject to the following further conditions namely:

I. Should  furnish  evidence  of having  undergone practical training in surveying for a period of not less than one year. (OR)
II. Should have put in service for a period of not less than one year in Public Works Department as Overseer or Junior Engineer. (OR)
III. Should hold the Upper Subordinate or L.C.E Diploma of the College of Engineering, Guindy or L.C.E. Diploma awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai.

Assistant Engineer (Electrical) - A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering (OR) A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examination with Electrical Engineering as a subject.

Assistant Director - A Degree in Mechanical or Production or Industrial or Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Textile Technology.

Knowledge of Tamil: Candidates should possess knowledge of Tamil on the date of this notification (for details refer para 10 of the Instructions to the candidates).

Selection Process: Written Examination (Object Type) and Interview (Oral Test)

Scheme of Written Exam and Oral Test:

Minimum Qualifying Marks – For SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/ DCs, BCs and BCMs – 171; For Others (General) – 228.

Examination Fee: Rs.175/- (i.e. Cost of Application Rs. 50/- + Examination fee Rs.125/-) Candidates claiming exemption from examination fee should pay Rs.50/- towards Application cost. (No exemption for cost of application).
