TIPS TO THE CANDIDATE:
Be active and interested in the discussion. Thecandidate must remain alert to the activities of the group and must not allowthe mind to wander away. Concentrate on and look at the individual who speakswith cheer and smile.
Listen to the briefing of the subject ofdiscussion and understand it correctly.
Every participant will be keen to do the talkingto impress the authorities. If you miss an opportunity, you can request thegroup to give you a hearing. You may agree with the arguments advanced, whiletrying to bring home your aspect to the others.
You can either address the whole group or to theindividual who is presently talking.
Talk with confidence and self assurance. Addressthe participants and not the selection authority conducting the discussion.

Do not engage in side conversations. When morethan one speaker addresses the group, politely request for order in the group.The person who takes the lead in co-ordination work in such situations isconsidered a good leader.
Practice group-discussion with your friends.Gather information on various subjects and learn the art of discussing withsuch groups.
Make use of the opportunity to talk whenever youget it. It is very essential that you talk and express your views during thegroup discussion. Try to say as much as you can on the subject.
Repetition and irrelevance should be avoided.
When you have reasonable doubts, clarify them byasking questions to others.
Ineffective communication, irritatingmannerisms, poor body language, feeble voice and other such drawbacks are bestavoided. But when intelligent and interesting ideas with enthusiasm andconviction are put forward, such defects are overridden.
